Amazonica Art Exhibition

‘Amazonica’ – The Catalogue of the Art Exhibition held at the Centro Cultural Ricardo Palma in Lima, Peru – June – July 2011.

“Forty Amazon artists from different generations, trends and styles came together in a charity show at the Centro Cultural Ricardo Palma de Miraflore. The objective was to obtain funding to develop cultural programs for children in our forest.”

“Cuarenta artistas amazónicos de diversas generaciones, tendencias y estilos se congregan en una muestra benéfica en el Centro Cultural Ricardo Palma de Miraflore . El objetivo es obtener es obtener fondos para desarrollar programas culturales para niños y niñas de nuestra selva.”

Lupuna Blanca (Cieba Pentandra)


Lupuna Blanca (Cieba Pentandra), photo of the 200 year old Lupuna in Pucallpa which stands at 150 feet (50 metres), in the rainforest they can grow higher than 200 feet (70 metres).

Also known as the Kapok Tree.

Reconocen a pintor ucayalino Pablo Amaringo en Pucallpa

El pintor ucayalino Pablo Amaringo Shuña recibió un reconocimiento de honor por logros ambientales. Autoridades francesas visitaron su escuela para la distinción correspondiente. Pablo Amaringo, es un pintor de 71 años que ha sido galardonado por las Naciones Unidas con el premio Global 500, por su labor de educación y preservación de las tradiciones y culturas amazónicas al frente de su escuela. Es el primer pintor autodidacta sudamericano que ha expuesto sus obras en dos de los tres museos más grandes del mundo: el Museo de Arte Moderno de Nueva York y el Museo del Ermitage de Rusia. Por ello, los representantes de la municipalidad de Sedan visitaron la escuela Usko Ayar para entregarle un reconocimiento especial por el trabajo artístico que presentó el año pasado en Francia. Tras la distinción, Amaringo, manifestó que el arte es parte de la cultura de los pueblos; razón por la cual se quedó en Pucallpa para enseñar a los niños y jóvenes plasmar la naturaleza en los lienzos; a fin de que sean apreciados en el mundo. De esta forma, este destacado pintor ucayalino fue premiado por su labor artística, la misma que redunda en la conservación de la cultura amazónica y del medio ambiente.

The painter Pablo Amaringo,  received honorary recognition for environmental achievements. French authorities visited his school for  corresponding distinctions. Pablo Amaringo, is a painter of 71 years,  that has been awarded by the United Nations Global 500 Award for his work on Education and the preservation of traditions and cultures Amazonian. He is the first South American self-taught painter who has exhibited in two of the three museums amongst the largest in the world: the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Hermitage Museum in Russia. Thus, representatives of the Municipality of Sedan (France) visited Usko Ayar  school to give special recognition for the work to of his Art recently displayed in France. Following the distinction, Amaringo,” said that art is part of the culture of peoples; race whereby ³ n ³ stayed in Pucallpa to enseà ± ar a nià ± os and the young people realize the nature on canvas, to make them appreciated the world. Thus, this outstanding painter Ucayali was praised for his work artística, the same resulting in the conservation of culture Amazonica and the environment.
