Only in the last year has he started working at the AmaruSpirit Centre. He has a wide range of Icaros and a beautiful pure voice.

Maestro Shaman - Roman Garcia Perez

He is a maestro curandero, initiated at the age of 14 when he drank ayahuasca with the great maestro Toribio. Over the years Roman has travelled and worked throughout Peru, and has been back working as a shaman in the Amazon for the past 15 years.

We will also have available Shamanic teacher plants which enhance visionary perception, awareness, and sensitivity, such as Ajo Sacha, Bobinsana, and Guayusa. The Full program and Itinerary is on our downloadable PDF file;

We had originally planned to hold this event with Pablo himself in 2009, but did not proceed due to concerns about his health at that time.

A video clip of the Invitation by Pablo is on YouTube;

Beyond Red Alert: Super Floods in the Amazon – Help Needed!

Floods in Iquitos

Unremitting torrential rainstorms in combination with a greater than normal glacial melt in the Andes has over the past few months created widespread flooding in the city of Iquitos and the neighbouring areas located in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest in Peru. The water levels in Amazon River and its tributaries such as the Nanay and the Itaya rivers have overflowed and a huge part of the city has become inundated. Many villages and communities have been washed away or are submerged. Over 100,000 people have been displaced by the floods. A State of Emergency was belatedly declared by the Peruvian Government on March 30th.  Marco Paredes, regional head of Senamhi (National Service of Meteorology and Hydrology) expects that the water levels of the rivers will continue to grow. There are also grave concerns about sanitation, and the subsequent spread of diseases such as dengue and malaria.

Bill Grimes the proprietor of the Dawn on the Amazon River Cruises and the fabulous like named cafe (delicious food btw) located on the Malecon has been keeping people posted on the situation with narratives and photos (some of these photos are on ths post), but more than that Bill and his friends have been purchasing drinking water, food, and other emergency supplies and distributing these to isolated villages and communities in the outlying areas.

Iquitos Flood

Bill needs assistance to continue this vital work. Donations will be most welcome to continue and expand the rescue work to allow him to purchase and distribute more emergency supplies. I’ve known Bill for a few years and frequent his cafe whenever I’m in Iquitos, all I can say is that he is one of the genuine ‘good guys’.

You can help in two ways:

  •  Donate money or / and
  • Raise awareness of this appalling situation by posting this on Face book, Blogs, and other social media.

If you would like to send a donation to Bill and his friends; you can do this via Western Union , MoneyGram, or Xoom.com, The details are as follows;

Destination Iquitos Peru, South America.

Recipient; Marmelita Flores Pua De Grimes

Make sure to spell Marmelita’s (Bill’s wife) full name correctly. It must match her National ID card (DNI). The clerk will give you a multi-digit number to identify your transaction. Email the number to Bill bill@dawnontheamazon.com and Bill and Marmelita can collect from the Interbank office in town.

Thanks for making a difference.

Alex Grey: The Net of Being. Forthcoming Nov 2012

Alex Grey - Net of BeingExciting news – a new book from Alex Grey is being published this year (November). I’m really looking forward to this.

How Alex Grey’s visionary art is evolving the cultural body through icons of interconnectedness

• Includes over 200 reproductions of Grey’s artwork
• Contains spectacular photos of Grey’s collaboration with the cult band TOOL plus his worldwide live-painting performances
• Offers Grey’s reflections on how art evolves consciousness with a new symbology of the Networked Self

Revealing the interwoven energies of body and soul, love and spirit that illuminate the core of each being, Alex Grey’s mystic paintings articulate the realms of consciousness encountered during visits to entheogenic heaven worlds. His painting Net of Being—inspired by a blazing vision of an infinite grid of Godheads during an ayahuasca journey—has reached millions as the cover and interior of the band TOOL’s Grammy award–winning triple-platinum album, 10,000 Days. Net of Being is one of many images Grey has created that have resulted in a chain reaction of uses— from apparel and jewelry to tattoos and music videos—embedding these iconic works into our culture’s living Net of Being.

Can We Transform Human Consciousness via our Facebook Walls?

inspirational quotesI don’t know about your Facebook Wall, but mine is being plastered by on an hourly basis by dozens of motivational and inspirational posters. Some are good, some are bad, and some are banal – but it is the sheer inexorable volume of these quips of spiritual wisdom being posted on my wall, then re-posted on my wall, and then again shared on my wall ad infinitum that I’m starting to grind my teeth at the relentless flood of them.

But maybe, just maybe in this unrelenting daily pounding of inspirational quotes and platitudes, they are somehow seeping into my deep subterranean-sewer-like-sub-Ünter-consciousness, as suddenly I had a veritable life changing ‘eureka’ moment; the metaphorical clouds parted  and this ancient nugget of platitudal wisdom flashed into my mind “If you can’t beat them, join them’.

So I have started to make my own inspirational and motivational posters. Brought to you by the sagacious scholars and perennial philosophers at;

www.herearesomemorefrigginginspirationalandmotivationalquotesandplatitudestopostonyourfacebookwall.com

Below is a starting selection of these posters, I’ll be adding to them from time to time when I get the inspiration and motivation.

And here is another inspirational thought – if we post millions of inspirational and spiritual posts the internet itself will be spiritually elevated and then perhaps human consciousness? You never can tell, and as the great Yoda himself tells us ‘Do or do not, there is no try’

What is Shamanic Healing & Soul Retrieval?

Shamanic Drumming - Howard G Charing

Howard playing an exquisite Sami drum.

Shamanic Healing consists of a varied body of practices performed by the shaman or practitioner to help or heal another person. This is a fundamental principle of shamanism wherever it is practiced.

The methods, tools, ‘symbology’, and medicines will vary from culture to culture and region to region but primarily the healing is a three-way connection between the client, shaman and the universe or spirit.

Soul Retrieval: A Personal Perspective

The recapitulation of life force is the body of work, which restores or recapitulates lost life force. Soul Retrieval is one of the most well-known and effective practices to this end.

To understand how recapitulation practices work, we need to look at the multidimensional nature of reality and move away from a linear sequential perspective. From this expanded perspective, ‘anything which has ever happened to anybody, anywhere; it is still happening somewhere’. If a traumatic event occurred for a person ten, twenty and so on years ago, for that person it is still happening, and I would venture to state that it is also in some way still influencing the person’s life.

Shamanism - Soul Retrieval - Healing

Healing

Shamanism does not dwell on past events; there is only this vast awesome ever-moving great moment of now where there is no separate past, present, or future. It is possible for a practitioner to journey and move outside of linear time to go to the place where that energetic event is still occurring for that individual, find and bring back that person’s life force which is held in that energetic event, and when this has been carried out, then the therapeutic healing of the event and its consequences can truly begin.

The loss of life-force is known as soul-loss , and this can take place when we suffer a trauma, have an accident, experience strong emotional exchanges with a loved one, separation from a partner, death of a loved one, go through a pervasive period of difficult circumstances. When we undergo a severe trauma typically a part of our vital nature goes away, so that we can survive whatever is happening to us. It is a way for the body and consciousness to survive severe trauma. Problems develop when the soul part or fragment does not return. It may not want to come back, or may not be able to return due to the nature of the trauma

The Roots of Shamanism

The Roots of Shamanism

The Roots of Shamanism

Shamanism
Painting by Howard G Charing

Shamanism is a religious practice found in many parts of the world. It refers to various belief systems that involve communicating with the spirit world. In some anthropological and religious circles, Shamans are regarded as intermediaries between the natural world and spiritual realm. Although Shaman belief systems are found across the world, variations in practice are evident. However, some of the basic beliefs regarding Shamanism are that spirits may be good or bad and can play a significant role in human life; Shamans can liaise with spirits to bring good to the community; and Shamans have the power to heal the sick and also have magical and psychic powers.

Role of a Shaman

The role of a Shaman tends to vary from one culture to another. Typical Shaman roles include dream interpreter, herbalist, magician, mediator, medicine man, rainmaker, spiritual advisor and priest. A Shaman may be a man or woman. In most cases, Shamans command a great deal of respect in the community. Their powers are associated with the supernatural and may also be inherited. However, even those who take up the role as a result of heredity must undergo intensive training that leads to being initiated into the role.
